I’m currently reading the new book by Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler: Abundance – The Future Is Better Than You Think.

Many people live in the inhibitory and all they focus on are their problems. This book gives you evidence for what is possible, a world of abundance, you can help us all get there when you make that shift to being in the excitatory.

This first video is Joe Polish interviewing the two authors:

Jason Silva (Host/Producer for Current TV, Filmmaker, Storyteller and self-described “philosophical performer” was one of the earliest readers of Abundance. Jason was so inspired by Abundance that he made this video mash-up.

Here’s the trailer for the book:

And finally here’s Peter’s 2012 TED talk on the debate for “Abundance vs. Scarcity”

I’m also reading The Coming Prosperity: How Entrepreneurs Are Transforming the Global Economy by Philip Auerswald which is also looking good so far.

It’s useful to remember that as my mentor Dr. Joseph Riggio says: “Where you put your attention is where you’ll get your results”.

There’s a great video interview of Dr. Joseph Riggio by Rich Schefren here:

http://www.strategicprofits.com/video/web/email/riggio-ichat.html

You can also get a couple of FREE GIFTS from Joseph here: http://tiny.cc/vle3n

They are an mp3 download of Beyond the Obvious

NOTE: This program normally sells for $45.00 … but the download is 100% FREE to you!!!

On this audio program you’ll spend almost a full hour with Joseph as he introduces and guides you through his “Exquisite Performance Coaching” model … the exact way he works with his performance coaching clients … and you’ll get tips on how to:

Identify and recognize the “real request” behind the request … knowing what is it that you really want is fundamental … in fact it’s the essence of achieving profound personal satisfaction

Ignore what’s unimportant, and focus on the critical … this is something that every elite performer knows how to do instinctively, and you can do it to … once you have the keys that unlock the pattern

Build a massive resource state before you even begin taking action … no one who is serious about achieving success would be wise to consider beginning anything important enough to be doing, without doing this first

Install a creative, self-generating resource state for yourself and others too … one of the main distinctions of people who produce outstanding successes is their level of motivation & creativity … now here’s their secret

The single most important thing that you must do to create long-term learning and transformation … you’ll be deeply surprised, because it’s completely outside of just about everything you’ve ever been taught or learned before …

AND

FREE Book Chapter: “The Roots of Personal Mastery”

Getting this chapter is TOTALLY FREE … you don’t have to leave an email, or sign-in or anything else just click on the link below and view it … or download it to read at your convenience, or to print it out and read later.

There was a great article yesterday in the New York Times by the author of the recent bio of Steve Jobs Walter Isaacson. I’ve just finished reading the book, and having been a Mac user since 1984 I’d kind of got the marketing genius of Steve Jobs. What I hadn’t realised was how much an artist Steve was. This is brought out clearly in the book. And in the article yesterday Isaacson speaks to Jobs intuition.

So was Mr. Jobs smart? Not conventionally. Instead, he was a genius. That may seem like a silly word game, but in fact his success dramatizes an interesting distinction between intelligence and genius. His imaginative leaps were instinctive, unexpected, and at times magical. They were sparked by intuition, not analytic rigor. Trained in Zen Buddhism, Mr. Jobs came to value experiential wisdom over empirical analysis. He didn’t study data or crunch numbers but like a pathfinder, he could sniff the winds and sense what lay ahead.

He told me he began to appreciate the power of intuition, in contrast to what he called “Western rational thought,” when he wandered around India after dropping out of college. “The people in the Indian countryside don’t use their intellect like we do,” he said. “They use their intuition instead … Intuition is a very powerful thing, more powerful than intellect, in my opinion. That’s had a big impact on my work.”

Mr. Jobs’s genius wasn’t, as even his fanboys admit, in the same quantum orbit as Einstein’s. So it’s probably best to ratchet the rhetoric down a notch and call it ingenuity. Bill Gates is super-smart, but Steve Jobs was super-ingenious. The primary distinction, I think, is the ability to apply creativity and aesthetic sensibilities to a challenge.

China and India are likely to produce many rigorous analytical thinkers and knowledgeable technologists. But smart and educated people don’t always spawn innovation. America’s advantage, if it continues to have one, will be that it can produce people who are also more creative and imaginative, those who know how to stand at the intersection of the humanities and the sciences. That is the formula for true innovation, as Steve Jobs’s career showed.

So how do you develop this kind of intuition, these aesthetic sensibilities? I’ve gotten that from my mentor Dr. Joseph Riggio who happens to be running a training this month in the UK called INFLUENCE.

Resilience, not luck, is the signature of greatness.

Nietzsche wrote, “What does not kill me, makes me stronger.” We all get bad luck. The question is how to use it to turn it into “one of the best things that ever happened,” to not let it become a psychological prison.
